Get Selfish today

Selfishness is a virtue.

Yes. I said it. I want people to be selfish, even when it hurts my feelings, even when I’m yelling and feeling sorry for myself that they let me down.

In the great scheme of things, you can’t help anybody unless you help yourself first.

Now for all my martyr friends who are jumping on the ‘it’s spiritual to put yourself second’, I’d like to point out the obvious.

Firstly, I get it. I had that belief for the longest time.

In fact, I used to just trust people were going to pay me for coaching even after we started our first session and payment hadn’t been received yet.

I’m here for them, I used to tell myself.

And you know what happened?

I wasn’t as effective as I could have been because a part of me was screaming back “How dare you not pay first. I’d never do that to you”.

It was a learning experience for me.

Now, all clients must pay before we start. It’s a promise I keep to myself to honour me first. That way, when the call or Zoom starts, I’m 1000% there.

There’s reason airlines tell you to put on your own mask first. There’s a reason Grant Cardone had to get the money thing out of the way before he became one of the biggest contributors to his church (yes I know he’s a Scientologist). There’s a reason Randy Gage talk prosperity for self-first before helping others.

How much can you possibly do if you’re broke, if your health is suffering, if your relationship sucks?

Get selfish about your life and audit yourself? Where do YOU need to improve? Where do YOU need to focus and spend time?

This is your life. If you’re not selfish about this, then why not?

I know that this one will cause some ‘feelings’ to stir up. That’s cool. Let’s get at it and be selfishly open and vocal about your opinion. Let me know below and share the post if you’re ok with some ‘you’re selfish comments’ back at you.

Talk soon.
