We humans have this uncanny ability to live our lives as if we are immortal. Of course, with the advent of social media there is some truth to this. Not to mention writing a book, recording a song, delivering an opera or directing a feature film.
How many times have you thrown a picture up on social only to tear it down 2 seconds later because your fringe was wrong, or the light was off or your eyes looked kind of off. I’ve done it. But why?
Have we become so vain now that this threatens our sense of self.
It’s our belief in immortality.
And yet – reality teaches us a different lesson.
Facebook might own whatever you post, but Facebook will die.
Instagram might be the IN-THING now, but Insta will disappear.
We have to be careful and take the long view.
Nothing is for sure.
To make a real impact, aim for immortality by becoming a person you are proud to be.
What do you stand for?
What do you want to bring out into the world?
What influence do you want to have?
When it’s time for your light to set, what do you want people to remember you for?
