Are You Self-Sabotaging?

One of the most pervading, under the surface mind viruses is that of self-sabotage.

People all over the world, millions upon millions struggle with this every day. And it shows up in thousands of ways. Here’s some examples you may have personally experienced or seen in others:

  • Promising to go the gym 3 days a week and only making it once
  • Making more money and spending more so the end goal is still the same.
  • Falling into old behaviours of arguing with a partner consistently
  • Going on a diet and blowing the diet once a week – just because you can

Why does this happen?

Are we all just pre-destined to want things and struggle?

The answer may surprise you.

Self-sabotage is a product of our evolutionary ‘survival’ mechanism. Your brain is not designed to make you happy. It’s not designed to help you achieve your next goal that is stretching you outside your comfort zone.

Your brain has only one directive. To keep you alive….by keeping you safe.

Have you ever noticed you don’t self-sabotage on things that you know you can do? We only self-sabotage on new things we ‘want’ to achieve.

On the next post I’m going to talk about how you can recognise when you’re off track.

Comment below and share your thoughts on where you might be self-sabotaging. I’ll drop in with some responses and see if I can help you.
