You Owe it to them

Apologies for the sombre message today.

Actually, no, I’m not apologising because it’s real.

This week, we buried one of my best friends. She was an amazing woman that made an incredible difference in the lives of so many people.

Gone too soon.

Death is the great equaliser for all people. No-one gets to escape.

There’s another level to this.

I meant to write it as a gift, but it doesn’t feel like a gift today.

It’s still real though. And it’s this.

If you can read this, if you have the opportunity to wake today to live a life that you want, you owe it to the people that can no longer do that, to give it your all.

I read this in a book many years ago and it has stuck with me.

There are people who will not wake today. There are people who will have life-altering diagnosis made today. There are people who would give anything to be in your position, able to still go for what is important to you.

It’s important and sobering to think this way.

But it’s also real.

One day you won’t be able to.

Today, make it a day that you do.
