The 5 Laws of Growth – Law 4 – Learning

Welcome to day 4.

We’ve covered some deep concepts in the last 3 days.

Law 1 – Visioning.

Law 2 – Realising.

Law 3 – Searching.

Law 4 starts to tie things together.

Law 4 is called ‘Learning’.

On a high level, Law 4 states that we must move from unconscious incompetence (I don’t know what I don’t know) to conscious competence (I know that I know). It mirrors the stages of learning where we go from:

1 – Unconscious Incompetence

2 – Conscious Incompetence

3 – Conscious Competence

4 – Unconscious Competence

5 – Conscious Mastery

6 – Unconscious Mastery

Numbers 5 and 6 are my expansion of the learning cycle to accommodate mastery of a subject.  For example – a F1 driver has unconscious mastery of the vehicle by the time he is racing the Monaco track.

So what is the 4th Law of Growth asking us to do?

It’s asking us to invest in learning, both physically (ie go out and find what we need to learn and do it) and mentally (ie invest the mental energy to learn a new skill). Said in another way, the 4th Law is asking us to find the book/course/event/coach and then use it.

If you’re like me, you likely started your personal development journey with a book or a course, and if you enjoyed the process, you probably courses you bought that you have never even looked at. Or perhaps it’s books for you, or audio’s.

FOMO is rife in the personal development space.

If you apply the 4th Law, you’ll find you need less courses and books because you will steadily be learning what you need to go to the next level of your life.

Learning is vital.

The final stage though, Law 5, is the most important.

We’ll cover that one tomorrow.

So, what do you think?

Until next time.

Keep being amazing.
