Bartering with L. Ron Hubbard

You can’t barter with God, the universe…or even L. Ron Hubbard.

And yet, that is the way we behave.

We set goals and believe that we can barter our way through to completion by promising a certain level of action and accountability.

If you give me the goal, God, I’ll give you the 10,000 hours it takes to move to mastery.

If you can make me stop procrastinating, God, I’ll deliver the best program I ever could, and give you praise.

If you give me the outcome, God, I’ll give you the process.

I just have to know first.

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

You can’t, we can’t…nobody can barter their way to success on an ‘if/then’ formula.

If you do this…..I’ll then do that.

Universe….if you prove you can give me (this), then I’ll double down on everything so you can give me (that).

You out there….fix me first so I can be everything you promised I could be.

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

The way forward is to acknowledge that no-one out there can fix you. Primarily, because you aren’t broken.

All religions serve a purpose, but if you don’t participate in that purpose, be active in the teachings, no amount of bartering, pleading, praying will get you to move forward.

Participate. Grow. Endure. Co-Create. Adjust. Retreat. Attack.

This is the flow of life.

If you have to barter with anyone.

Barter with that special person called…

…no one.
